Trataka – meditation for beginners

admin, June 11, 2024June 24, 2024

Most of modern people usually feel empty, exhausted, depression, dissatisfaction. With this relation state of physical body and eyes becomes worse. Simple and effective practice of yoga will help balance your inner state, get inner harmony and balance, also restore and keep good vision in all period of life. Let’s talk about “trataka” – meditation for beginners and also eyes cleansing technique.

Trataka allows to control your focus and reduce non-controllable chaos of thoughts. One of additional effects of trataka – vision and eye health improves.

One of problems for modern people – exhausted eyes. It happens because of long work near computer, bad quality of air, insufficient amount of drinking water, stress, tension while driving car and bad lightning in work.

To restore eyes and make eyesight better in the future, it is very useful to do yogic practice Trataka.

It is special meditation for eyes where you need to concentrate your sight on the brightest part of candle light.

It is enough to do this practice 1 time in a day – evening before sleep. Trataka works with Ajna-chakra “Third eye” so not only stops eye diseases but also raise intuition (seeing “through” people and knowing dynamics of situation), allows to make balanced decisions, raise conscious dreaming quality.

Trataka: technique

1. Sitting posture with straight spine.

2. Put candle in the level of your eyes, in a distance of stretched arm.

3. A few minutes close your eyes and relax your breathing before practice.

4. Open eyes and look at light of the candle. Don’t move, don’t blink. We try even not to use eyeballs. Be relaxed, don’t strain eyes – then tears will not come so fast. If eyes become tired – close them, relax for 15-20 minutes and one more time open eyes and start watching light.

5. Be aware of mind trying to start thinking processes. If you understood that in your head some thought come, calmly understood this fact and then release thought from head to freedom. Instead of fighting with thoughts, just don’t involve into thinking process.

6. When we’re watching candle light, see it as it is, just watching it.

7. In the end of practice close eyes for 2-3 minutes and watch “imprint” of candle light with closed eyes. Try to keep this imprint in front of your inner sight as long as possible. Sign that everything goes well: in some moment from our vision all surrounding objects and their borders disappears and stays only light of the candle.
